This event continues to grow year on year, and it was good to see players from Lancashire, Merseyside, Cheshire & North Wales and Northumberland competing. This
year there were 48 competitors compared to 32 last year, a 50% increase. Hopefully if the players and organisers use word of mouth, we could have a similar increase
next year.
Every section was very hard fought, but in a very sporting manner. At the end of the day, it was invaders from outside Lancashire who claimed the top two NCCU
trophies, Daniel Lai of Northumberland taking the u18 title and Martin Brown of Cheshire & NW the u15 title. Apart from these, Lancashire were triumphant at every
other level, with Lancashire players claiming both the NCCU and the Lancashire title simultaneously. At u9 level, James and Matthew Walsh could not be separated by any
method and the decision was made that to have twins play each other in a play-off would be too much! They therefore share both the NCCU and Lancashire titles.
